HTML | Introductory TAGs

This includes <HTML> <HEAD> <TITLE> <BODY> <FONT> <B> <I> <U> <PRE> <STRONG> <BR> <HR> with an final example.

A sample of HTML page :
<HTML>
<HEAD>
<TITLE>TEST PAGE</TITLE>
</HEAD>
<BODY>
THIS IS MY FIRST PAGE
</BODY>
</HTML>
On the opening, the <HTML> Tag starts the document. Most of the tags has its own end. Such as the <BODY> tag ends with the </BODY> tag. Thus adding a </> with the original tag we can make its end.

What we write in between the <TITLE> & </TITLE> tags get displayed on the title bar of the page. Example : If we write <TITLE>Tanmay</TITLE>, we get

Rest of the entire page,
we write them in between the <BODY> & </BODY> tags.
At first we can give six headings as follows

Now consider the following,
            <H1 ALIGN=”CENTER”>……….</H1>
Here, ALIGN is called attribute and CENTER is the value of the attribute. Thus in a tag we can use attributes and values.

Some tags are given below with explanation.
<B>This tag makes the text bold.</B>
<I> This tag makes the text Italic.</I>
<U>This gives an underline.</U>
We can apply the above three tags together. Such as,
<I><B><U>This is complex.</B></U></I>

<FONT> ……..</FONT> this tag has three attributes, FACE, SIZE, COLOR. The FACE is actually the name of the font. That is, the value of FACE is the name of the font. Such as, Times New Roman, Sylfaen etc. The SIZE is the size of the text. Its values can be 5,10……etc. The attribute, COLOR may have many colors as its value. The available colors are given below,

Black
Silver
Blue
Gray
Maroon
Purple
Fuchsia
White
Yellow
Green
Lime
Aqua
Navy

<PRE>……</PRE> is an useful tag. When we write anything in between these tags it appears the same in the output. Example : Consider the following input,
INPUT
………………………….
……………………….....
<PRE>
Tanmay Chakravarty
            Student of CSE
Admitted in FALL’08
                        UITS, RAJSHAI CAMPUS.
</PRE>
………………………….
……………………….....
OUTPUT
………………………….
………………………….
Tanmay Chakravarty
            Student of CSE
Admitted in FALL’08
                        UITS, RAJSHAI CAMPUS.
………………………….
………………………….

            <STRONG>…….</STRONG> this tag also makes the text BOLD.
            <BR> This tag, when putted gives a break to the line and jump to the very next line.
            <HR> Using this tag we can draw horizontal line. Its attributes are HEIGHT, WIDTH and COLOR. We can put value of these attributes in number and % (percentage). Example.
          <HR HEIGHT=”10” WIDTH=”200” COLOR=”RED”>
          <HR HEIGHT=”10” WIDTH=”100%” COLOR=”GREEN”>
          <HR HEIGHT=”1%” WIDTH=”100%” COLOR=”YELLOW”>
          After we put a <HR> tag we can put the tag <NOSHADOW> to avoid unwanted shadows.
            Now we will try out these tags and rules discussed above. Here is a simple web page with its code. Please, try out more and more to learn them well.
            In the inputted codes, the tags which are in BOLD form have been discussed latter.
